Caring for your En Gold piece
We're thrilled you chose an En Gold piece for your space. All of our pieces have travelled an incredible journey to meet you and once they do, we want them to be enjoyed for a lifetime.
To learn how to care for your piece in the years to come, please refer to the information below.
Fossil Stone, The Heritage Collection
Fossilized limestone is a natural product, and if you look closely, you can observe naturally occurring fossilized seashells and organic characteristics throughout; no two pieces are exactly the same. As such, each tile will have its own set of unique characteristics. Although our artisans try their best to classify the stone into common groups, visible contrast between the tiles may occur. Our stone, as with almost all types of stone, has filler in holes and gaps to provide an even surface. This is not a flaw; it is a part of the stonework process.
Designed for indoor use only.
Preventative
Surface tiles are buffed to create a natural polished seal, which will protect against moisture and stains. However, care will still need to be taken to ensure you get longevity from your piece. We recommend the use of Lithofin Stone Care products. The Lithofin Stain Stop product serves as a good at-home option to protect the surface of your table from moisture stains.
- Use coasters and avoid direct contact with liquids.
- Avoid contact with substances that contain an acidic component (such as citric foods/ alcohol/drinks or some sticky tapes) as they may cause etching on the surface.
- Avoid direct contact with high pigment liquids, foods and objects that may cause color transfer.
- Avoid leaving moisture or wet substances on the surface of your item for extended periods as this may cause damage to the finish.
- Attend to spills immediately and ensure to use coasters to avoid liquid contact which may cause ring marks.
Moving
- Do not push or drag along the floor as this may cause structural damage, chipping or cracks.
- Always disassemble the item to move and re-assemble when it has reached its desired location.
- When moving a table top always handle with two people and carry the table top on its side (not flat) as this will avoid hairline fractures and cracks in the stone.
- When transporting in a vehicle, always wrap and secure the base to avoid movement during the journey. All table tops should be transported on their longest side, padded and secured from movement.
- Avoid using the item for any purpose other than its designed use, this includes standing or sitting on top of the item.
- If the item is unsteady, adjust the gliders under its base until it is secure.
- Always follow the product assembly instructions.
Cleaning
- To clean, simply use a damp, soft, clean cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid any abrasive or harsh cleaning products that are not specifically designed for this material.
- For rough stone tiles, you may use a gentle, soft bristle toothbrush and warm water with mild soap to gently scrub the surface.
- We recommend using Lithofin Stone Care Products that have been selected for cleaning, protection, and stain removal.
